The Educator Academy recruits, prepares, places, and retains passionate individuals in the teaching profession.
We strive to develop these teachers into effective, compassionate, and antiracist educators who work to ensure kids receive a quality education. We do this through a teacher residency and fellowship model, allowing participants to hone their teaching skills by serving as teachers. Our residents serve as AmeriCorps members in mentor teachers’ classrooms for a full school year while fellows serve in their classrooms. Participants earn their teaching certification, receive instructional coaching, engage in coursework, and participate in a larger community of educators. This rigorous development model helps our teachers become the educators the students of Kansas City deserve.
